About Dr. Weintraub
Martin Weintraub has been practicing medical and surgical ophthalmology in Westminster since 1983. A Board Certified Ophthalmologist, the 1979 graduate of Georgetown University School of Medicine completed an internal medicine internship at the Washington Hospital Center and went on to an ophthalmology residency at the University of Maryland Hospital. He served as Chief Resident in his last year.
When Dr. Weintraub began treating patients in Westminster, Carroll County General Hospital did not support modern eye surgery. All eye patients at the time traveled to GBMC or other hospitals. It was at Dr. Weintraub’s insistence that Carroll County added state-of-the-art ophthalmic surgery to its regular services. For over twenty years, patients from Westminster and the surrounding areas have benefited from this expansion into first-rate surgical eye care.
With the opening of the first outpatient eye surgery center in 2004, patients enjoy greater convenience for their eye care needs. Dr. Weintraub took an active role in the establishment of this outpatient facility and served as its first medical director. Dr. Weintraub met his wife Susan when they were undergraduates at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. They have three children.
